During our recent time in Portland, Maine, as food lovers we were overwhelmed with the huge number of highly rated and award-winning restaurants in such a small town. We were also torn between eating as much lobster and seafood as humanly possible and exploring some of the other types of cuisine available in Portland.
When we heard about Pai Men Miyake, which incorporates local seafood into Japanese cuisine, we knew it ticked both boxes and that we absolutely had to check it out.
The Grey in Savannah is a unique restaurant serving up Southern-inspired fare with modern twists. The head chef, Mashama Bailey, is a James Beard award-winner, and the restaurant itself is housed in an old Greyhound station that is simply stunning.
We recently visited for Sunday brunch and were so captivated by the food and atmosphere that we returned a second time the next Sunday!
On our recent trip to Hilton Head Island, we had several meals on the water but the restaurant with the best combination of great food and beautiful views had to be The Old Oyster Factory.
Although this one sits on the inlet of Broad Creek and not along the ocean, we thought the ambiance and setting was just beautiful. Add in a delicious raw bar, wonderfully executed seafood dishes, and a solid wine list, and you have one of our favorite restaurants on Hilton Head Island.
We knew we would be eating good when we visited Savannah, but it wasn't until we really started to explore the best restaurants in Savannah that we started to understand just how good we would be eating.
Southern food? Check. Seafood? Check. Chef-driven creations that make us want to weep with joy? A few of those too.
Savannah is a stellar food city, and we can't help but share a few amazing restaurants we enjoyed in this one.
