The National Museum of Civil War Medicine is Unique

The National Museum of Civil War Medicine in downtown Frederick is an interesting one as it takes a focused look on Civil War history via the medicine of the time.

From the sicknesses and ailments of camp life, the aftermath of a battlefield injury, to the improvements to the medical world at large as a result of the war, the museum does a fantastic job focusing on this unique aspect of history.

Trillium Brewing Company Was a Disappointment (But Not Because of the Beer)

I'm not one to normally go on a brewery rant, if only because I can generally always find something good in a brewery even when the beers are, well, not that great.

But what really lets me down is when popular breweries completely miss the mark from the hype, and during my visit to Boston, Trillium Brewing Company did just that.

This one had nothing to do with the beers, and was entirely due to the operation of the taproom- because I barely tried any of their products at all.

5 Frederick Breweries to Check Out When Exploring Maryland

I'm becoming quite the beer snob in recent years, and have made it a habit to visit as many breweries as possible when visiting a new city. Naturally, I subsequently publish brewery guides after the visits (like my Cincinnati breweries and Cleveland breweries articles to name a few), and plan on continuing this trend wherever possible.

I've visited Frederick, Maryland, a few times over the years and have been able to try several of the city's unique breweries. One thing jumped out at me from many of the ones that I visited in that they had large draft lists with an impressive variety of styles (something I can't say for beer scenes in other cities).
