Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a Must Visit in Uganda

As far as Africa safaris are concerned, Uganda one of our favorite trips to date. 

This was not just because we went chimpanzee and gorilla trekking in Uganda, but also because of the other wildlife viewing opportunities at places like Queen Elizabeth National Park and Murchison Falls National Park.

But out of all of the animals we spotted during our travels around the country, one was favorite was missing: the rhino.

This is because Uganda no longer has any rhinos remaining in the wild, as poaching and other activities rendered them extinct in the country. But conservation efforts are underway to bring their population back, and for those wanting to help out and see these beautiful creatures, you simply must visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Hostelling International USA is Celebrating World Water Day

Prior to quitting my job to be a full-time travel blogger, I was a chemical engineer. 

More specifically, I was a water engineer and worked in many different subsets of the industry from municipal water treatment and wastewater to oil and gas produced water purification.

To put it simply, water accessibility and drinkability has been an especially important issue to me for quite some time.

So, it should be no surprise that when I heard that Hostelling International USA launched the Million Gallon Challenge, I had to learn more. In partnering with them to share the story, I ended up learning quite a lot!

Eating Scorpion and Other Weird Treats on Wangfujing Street

Scorpions to eat in ChinaA must do for the off-the-beaten track crowd in Beijing is to visit one of the food markets that line the various districts. 

At these markets, the appetite of the adventurous can be put to the test with many offbeat and near disgusting creatures on display for consumption.

Normal foods are also available from the dozens of street carts for those wanting to have a more traditional meal of dumplings or noodles.

But my trip to the Wangfujing night market, however, was purely for one purpose; to eat the weirdest food I could find.  Namely scorpion.

Uganda Safari Review – Churchill Safaris is a Wonderful Time

During our Uganda safari, we decided to do something new for us, and that was to take a private tour.

We had traveled Africa in the past both solo and on low-budget group tours, but we never were able to take a high-end safari company with a private and customized itinerary.

In Uganda we finally made this a reality, and did so with a company called Churchill Safaris- a popular organization that offers fully customized tours in central and southern Africa.
