Finger Lakes Attractions – The Best Museums in the Region

When visiting an area with such natural beauty like the Finger Lakes, you might not think about spending time indoor at museums- especially with the area’s reputation as a grape-growing region with tons of wineries.

But as we found out during our recent visit, you can only drink so much wine, and sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate.

We ended up spending a good amount of time in several of the region’s museums, and what we found was that these museums are much more than just places to fill the time: they are attractions in their own right.

These four museums run the gamut from quirky to unique to world-class, and we highly recommend setting aside time to check them out when you visit the Finger Lakes.

Corning Museum of Glass – A Must See Museum in New York

One of my favorite exhibits at the Glass Museum

The Finger Lakes region of New York is not all about wine, even though Finger Lakes wineries are one of the major reasons we visted. To find out what else this amazing part of the state has to offer we spent quite a bit of time away from the vineyards to explore the nearby cities and museums.

The city of Corning, just south of Seneca Lake, is not famous for wine.  This city is home to one of the largest glass producers in the country as well as one of the largest glass museums you’ll ever see.

We may be raving about the wine in the Finger Lakes just like everyone else, but this particular museum truly was the highlight of our visit.

Confessions of a Cirque du Soleil Addict

My name is Jeremy, and I am a Cirque du Soleil addict.

You’ve probably heard of Cirque du Soleil.  Maybe even have seen one or two.  But I have a confession to make to everyone here today – I am an addict.

People ask me all the time what it is about Cirque du Soleil that gets me so excited, but I really have a hard time pinpointing it.  For those who are new to the show style, I like to describe it as being loosely inspired by common circus acts, but amplified with the extreme nature of the X-Games.

A simple tight rope act is taken to the extreme when the participants start to jump rope while balancing on a single line.

A juggling act goes crazy when the performer begins throwing cowboy hats over the stage in boomerang style.

A simple trampoline act gets the crowd going when they use existing set designs like a playground, jumping in and out of tiny holes with well timed precision.

A loose theme ties them all together for a rough story, but you do not see a Cirque du Soleil show for the “plot”, it is entirely for these boundary pushing acts.

The Top Places to Visit in Miami During Your Next Trip

Miami lies on the south-eastern tip of Florida, and is often referred to as “the retirement capital of the United States”. but don’t let that fool you into thinking Miami is boring. Far from it- Miami is brash, colorful and a playground for Americans wanting some fun in the sun.

Since Miami is the gateway to the Caribbean, it is also the biggest cruise ship port in the world and the hub of many cruise lines.

Located close to the equator, the weather is hot and humid, making it a popular vacation spot with people looking for beaches, art deco glamor, and an energetic party scene- all considered to be among the best places to visit in Miami.

Miami has diverse neighborhoods from the South Beach celebrity scene to the Cuban community in Little Havana. Buildings range from dazzling skyscrapers in Downtown Miami to pastel-colored art deco buildings in South Beach. Miami Beach is actually a separate city and is a popular Spring Break party destination for American college students.

With a strong Latin American spirit, sexy people, palm trees, sandy beaches, clubs and parties- Miami is one of the wackiest, most amusing cities in America.
