Kjaesen mountain farm is a stunning spot located just outside of Eidfjord, Norway, that has an interesting history and stunning views.

But while it would be one thing to simply say you need to check out this 400-year-old farm because of its beauty (that really should go without saying), getting to Kjaesen farm is a whole other matter entirely.

So in this one, we're not going to discuss what you can see (the pictures are, admittedly, self-explanatory), and solely focus on what it is like to make the drive to Kjaesen to begin with!

After staying in all styles of hotels during our travels around Norway, from cabins in the woods to bare-bones apartment rentals, we wanted to splurge for a bit of luxury during our stay in Geiranger. We got just that at the Grande Fjord Hotel!

This gem of a hotel right outside of Geiranger town came at a rather high premium compared to our average Norwegian hotel budget, but the extra expenses were most certainly worth it.

We really didn't want to leave this one at the end of our stay!

The Besseggen Hike in Jotunheimen National Park is often called one of the best hikes in Norway. Naturally, with a claim like that we knew we would have to check out the roughly 14 kilometer (~9 mile) one-way hike during our visit.

After completing it, we can certainly see why that claim is likely true, as the beauty of the Besseggen Trail really is unrivaled. That said, it is also one of the hardest hikes we've ever been on, taking well over seven hours to complete, and with a bit of rain became technically challenging well beyond what we would have originally hoped for.

So reserve a slot on the Gjende ferry, make sure you are wearing the right gear for the elements, and get ready for one of the best (and most intense) hikes out there!

After road-tripping around Norway in some very remote places, often cooking our own meals, we arrived in the town of Alesund excited to eat at some proper restaurants. Highest on our list to try was the fine dining restaurant Bro (Norwegian for “bridge”). This spot was recommended to us by a Norwegian couple we met at Aegir Brewery in Flam (thank you guys!), and it was the most delicious, creative meal we had on our entire trip.

So if you're looking for a prix fixe dining experience with delicious wine pairings to match, Bro most certainly needs to be on your radar.
