F.A.Q. About The Trek to Everest Base Camp You Need to Know

During our research for the trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, we had a hard time finding answers to questions we thought were of absolute importance.

Questions like “how do you buy used gear and sell it later?” and “what are the rooms like?” were met with very few responses that did not help us in the slightest.

So rather than putting together comprehensive guides for the trek like our friends at The Planet D and Escape Artistes did, as we highly recommend them, we’re looking to the more obscure.

This F.A.Q. article has been designed to answer the questions that you may not find good answers for elsewhere (because we did not in many of our searches before the trek).

Some of the questions included are a bit more common, too, but are important enough or asked enough that we felt we had to share our input as well.

It is also worth noting that our trek was done in the end of November when the temperatures were dropping but not incredibly cold (the coldest night was -20C, but always warm-to-hot during the day).

Likewise, some of these questions may be seasonal, and we can only offer our input keeping this in mind.

Hilton Northolme vs Hilton Canopy in Mahe, Seychelles

As long-time Hilton Honors members, we often love to use our points to splurge at their high-end resorts around the world that we may otherwise not afford outright.

In the Seychelles, we were looking at two options on the island of Mahe- the Hilton Northolme and the Hilton Canopy. After visiting the country twice, I was able to stay at both properties on each visit.

In this one, we thought we’d break down the differences between the two properties as their amenities, ambiance, and overall experience to guests is quite different. To put it bluntly, depending on your travel style, you may lean towards one over the other pretty quickly.

So let’s compare the key differences between the two Hilton hotels in the Seychelles!

Please note: We stayed at the two hotels approximately six years apart. Operations may have changed over time. Likewise, there are more hotels in the Seychelles in the broader Hilton portfolio like the DoubleTree Allamanda Resort, Mango House by LXR Hotels, and L’Escale Resort Marina and Spa by SLH. We are not including these in the comparison- only the Hilton Northolme and Hilton Canopy.

Coco de Mer Review – A Gem on Praslin in the Seychelles

When deciding on a hotel in Praslin, we stumbled upon Coco de Mer and Black Parrot Suites along the southern coast of the island and were intrigued as the price was reasonable (by Seychelles resort standard) and the property was beautiful. So we booked it right away.

After staying here, we can safely say that we had an excellent time and would stay again; however, we had a few details to keep in mind before booking.

How Many Days Do You Need in the Seychelles

If you are planning a trip to the Seychelles, you really have several questions to ask yourself like how much time you have, what islands you want to visit, and, breaking that down a little further, how much time to spend on each island.

While the ideal answer is “as much time as possible everywhere”, in reality that is hard to come by. So to really understand how many days you need in the Seychelles, we thought we’d help break down our thoughts on four of the most visited islands- Mahe, Praslin, La Digue, and Silhouette.

Although you can alter any of these based on your interests, we want to share what we think the absolute minimum amount of time is to do each of these islands justice.
