Cruising Forecast for 2011

If you’re considering something a bit different for your holiday plans in 2011, cruises have come a long way from retired couples' holidays and tiny dinghies up the river.  I have personally been on several cruises and found them to be a great way to see a lot of places separated by great distances in a short period of time, especially when that distance is otherwise impossible to cross easily otherwise (i.e. the sea).  While cruising, if you just want to sit back and relax but still want to update your website, check out Article Writing Services for free content for websites.

Cruise operators such as Celebrity Cruises have announced brand new ships for 2011, and companies like Fiji’s Blue Lagoon Cruises and Windstar Cruises have announced huge discounts to kick off their 2011 cruise season. With destinations as diverse as Italy, the Greek Islands, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, and the Baltics, and the added benefit of not having to pack and re-pack each time you visit a new country, it’s easy to see why many more people are hopping on board. The following are some of the new things on the radar for cruising in 2011 to consider before booking your next holiday.

Disney!

Disney Cruise Line is about to launch its brand new cruise liner, the Disney Dream. The huge ship features giant on-deck water slides, virtual portholes, and themed nurseries for children of all different ages. There’s plenty for adults too, with 6 themed restaurants, movie theaters, 11 bars and nightclubs, and luxurious sleeping accommodation, all with that Disney magic that we all love.  The ship made its maiden voyage on January 26, 2011, and has planned trips to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, and Europe in the future. Daily cheap flights to the ports of call can be found for upcoming adventures. (Photo "King of Magic" by pnijhuis)

Alaska

If you’re thinking of holidaying in Canada or the USA this year, an Alaskan Glacier cruise is an ever-popular way to experience breathtaking views of something other than palm trees and beaches. Flights to Canada and Northwest USA allow you to make the trip to Alaska into an adventure in itself. Why miss beautiful scenery by flying over it? The Alaska Highway is known for its scenery, and is easily accessible from both British Columbia, and by highways leading from Montana and Washington as well. (Photo "Ship in Alaska" by linder6580)

Australia

If you prefer something a little different, discover one of Australia’s lesser-travelled stretches of coastline; such as a trip from Cairns to Darwin on Coral Princess Cruises’ Oceanic Discoverer boutique cruise ship. Their ‘11-night Across The Top’ makes 11 stops along the coast between Cairns and Darwin, allowing you to experience amazing views and food along the way. Cheap flights to Cairns within Australia can be found easily on all major airlines.

Of course these are just some of the many cruise holidays on offer for the year, so it’s worth shopping around to get the best deal depending on where you want to visit, and checking out the many cruise ship operators is a must!

I love cruises. I know they are entirely different than backpacking but there is something nice about jumping on a boat knowing you don't need to do anything else but get the drink of the day. Of course I always get frustrated when we have to leave port but it's all part of the cruising experience. :)

I think cruising is great as well! I am terribly selective when it comes to picking an itinerary, but some really good ones pop up here and there that are nicer, cheaper, and easier than visiting the islands individually. Can't complain when the price is right and you get such luxury!

I'd love to go on a cruise, but haven't made the commitment as of yet. I guess in a way you are forced to relax; it's not like you can run back to the bustle of everyday life!

The best part is being out of cell reception when you're at sea :). I've been wanting to go on a Disney cruise for a while, but they're still a bit out of my budget range. We got our last cruise for a week from San Juan for something like $380pp excluding airfare. Those two together were cheaper than just airfare to nearly all the destinations the cruise ship went to, plus it had food and hotel.

I've got a few more cruise topics to write about in the future to add to the collection, but feel free to email me if you ever think of going on one!
