There are three main clothing types that need to be packed for a cruise: beach wear, casual wear, and "elegant" wear as the cruise lines put it. Most of the islands are very laid back and fully accept t-shirts, flip flops, and shorts in most all restaurants and shopping establishments unless you go high class. Most cruise lines typically frown upon this dress in the dining rooms and suggest something a bit more refined for the dining room where the good food is served. So some polo shirts and long pants are a must for the few hours that will be spent in the dining room. Of course, this is not enough for the cruise lines, and most include one or two "elegant" nights in which case formal wear is requested, with some going as far as insisting on jackets for men. Luckily Carnival does not enforce jackets, so I am not bringing mine for sheer lack of room, because 3 clothing types for one week is beyond excessive to me. It is sad that I probably am packing double the amount of clothes for a week long trip than I will take for my entire RTW trip that will be 50x longer.

After I get back from the cruise I will update this post to include comments on whether or not some of these items were excessive or not even used. But I feel that this list should be alright to wear clothes without having to do any washings or re-wearing while on the trip. Since there is room in the luggage, why not?

BUT with those things you listed. DON'T ever forget to enjoy in the Caribbean. It is actually the best in the world.
Which cruise line are you taking? As someone who still hasn't taken a cruise, I'm always interested in experiences and opinions of the various lines and boats.
I'll be on the Carnival Victory. I've sailed on that ship once before and it is quite nice for a mid-range sized ship. I'll be posting tons of articles when I get back about it for sure!
